Bogota Sports Complex

21-March-2025
Update progress on the new Bogota Sports Complex. With the milder weather additional work has been able to be done on both Fiegel Field and the Olsen Park section of the complex. Both the Softball and Baseball fields have had their natural turf installed, and the infield dirt added. The location of the Pitcher’s mound and base locations have been marked. Since both fields are adjoining in the outfield there is no warning track. Both fields’ dugouts are on ground level and have been enclosed. Also, bullpens have been created and enclosed with fencing. Now both the home team and the Visting clubs have their own bullpen. The lights have been installed around the baseball field, including one stanchion placed between the two fields near the center field. There is no lighting for the softball field at this time. Another component between the outfield is the cage to allow for the Shotput, and Discus events during home track and field meets. The throwing circle and toe board have been installed, with the netting to be added at the time of a meet. A second layer of asphalt has been added to the walkway surrounding the softball field. Trees and additional grass have been added to the area next to the softball field. The Board of Education has contracted with a service that will perform “geese-chasing” on a daily basis for the natural grass fields.
The walkway next to the baseball field is only a rough layer due to more construction between the baseball and football fields.
On the Western side of the complex drainage has been created, and the ground level raised to allow for runoff to flow easier into the Hackensack River, and to reduce water build up cause by high tides and heavy rain. Another section of the walking track on the North-west also has a second layer of asphalt up to the Swim Club parking lot. Fencing will be added between the walking track and the football field.
The running track base has been created and bordered around the football playing area. The running surface is scheduled to be installed during the month of May. The turf field itself has been laid down. This has an alternating shade of light and dark green turf every ten yards. Both sides of the 50-yard line are the darker green turf to start the pattern. The end zones are coloured Bogota Purple with BOGOTA on the South Endzone and BUCCANEERS on the North Endzone in white lettering, they are trimmed in Bucs Gold. With the Buccaneer logo in the center facing the stands.
The marking for football is in white, the line for Soccer is Bucs Gold, with the marking for future Varsity sports in red and blue.
The stands and scoreboards have been reused from the old location along with the flagpole from the old Riverview field just to the south. The Grandstand faces west towards W. Main St. The score board has been placed at the 50-yard line facing the spectators. The baseball score board is along the first base line facing the pitcher’s mound.
The stands have the ramp for easier access on the north side and stairs to the south. The handicapped spaces are in the same location. The press box has also been reused and is behind the seating area. There are four light towers located on the 10-yard line and across from each other.
These lights, and the ones around the baseball field, have LED bulbs and are baffled to reduce the light spillage to the surrounding area. On top of two light towers are lighting detectors with warning siren and lights when lighting is nearby.
The groundwork for the Welcome Plaza is still underway with a completion date near the Memorial Day Weekend. The district is planning to hold the Commencement Ceremonies for the Class of 2025 as the first event in the new Bogota Sports Complex.
