14-February-2025
On Thursday-13-February, donations of clothing were started to be accepted to aid those who were displaced by a major fire which took place in the West View Tower Apartments at 15 Palisade Ave in Bogota. A collection site was opened in the Bogota Senior Center. A general estimate of over 500 pounds of clothes, shoes, pet food, toiletries, bedding, jackets, and canned/boxed food had been donated. Many of the donations came from the residents of the Borough along with Citizens of Ridgefield Park. About 35 volunteers were present to begin the task of sorting the items for distribution. By the end of the evening every available table was overflowing with donations. The sorting continued on Friday-14-February, for easier access for families to find items they needed.
On Saturday-15-February the effected Families will be welcome into the Senior Center at 1:00p. The volunteers will be available to accept more donation starting at 10:00a that morning. Donation of baked goods and gift cards will also be welcome for additional support for the residents in need.
As residents find a more permanent home there will be a call for household items, furniture, and basic home supplies. These will then be distributed to the families in their new location.
Local organization offering assistants include the E Roy Bixby PTO, The Bogota High School PTO, The Bogota Middle School PTO, and the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bogota and Luka’s Italian Cuisine.
