27-January-2025
After the Bogota Department of Public Works removed the Holiday decorations for 2024, they installed the first series of Bogota Hometown Heroes banners. These are banners that will be hung on the light poles within the Borough. They will honor those Veterans who served in the Armed Forces and have lived in Bogota. Each banner has the name and photo of the person being honored, the branch of the Military, years of service, and which conflict there were a part of. An image of the medals awarded, with the insignia of the branch they served in. Any service personnel who were killed in action will have a badge in place of the branch.
This first group has 14 banners hung along W. Main St from Larch Ave. to Elm Ave. There are also banners hung in front of Borough Hall on Larch Ave.
Submissions for additional banners are being excepted by contacting the Borough Clerk at 201-342-1736 ext. 235. Or at clerk@bogotaonline.org
Information needed is the Veterans Name. Branch of the Military, Eras, or War served in. Date of Service and any medals awarded. A photo and a copy of their DD-214(if available) should also be submitted.
Photos of the first 14 banners are display from oldest time of service to the present day.
