On Saturday-4-January, the Bogota Borough Council held their annual Sine-Die and reorganization meeting. This took place in the second floor Senior Center. The first part was to close all unfinished business and payments for 2024. Durning this first meeting Bogota Mayor Ms. Daniele Fede recognized out going Councilman Mr. Robert Robbins. She read a proclamation that thanked Councilman Robbins for service on the Borough's Council over the years. After this, New Jersey Assemblywoman Ms. Shama Haider, and State Senator Mr. Gordon Johnson presented Councilman Robbins with a proclamation from the New Jersey Legislative to honor his work as an elected public official.
When the Sine-Die was adjourned the reorganization session was called into order. First Borough Clerk Ms. Yenlys Flores-Bolivard announced that Bergen County Board of Elections certified the results. This confirmed that Councilwoman Ms. Consuelo Carpenter was re-elected to her seat on the Council. Then it was confirmed Mr. William Hordern also won a seat on the Council. First Councilwoman Carpenter was sworn in by Bergen County Commissioner Ms. Germaine Ortiz. Next Councilman Horden was also given the oath of office by Commissioner Ortiz. Then both members of Council were presented a proclamation from Bergen County congratulating them on their election win.
After a brief recess, the 2025 Bogota Borough Council was called back into order. The first item of business was to elect Councilwoman Ms. Lisa Kohles as Council President, this was approved by unanimous vote. Council President Kohles was then sworn in by Commissioner Ortiz
Then the Council voted on the consent agenda. All passed by unanimous vote. One of the appointments approved was to select Councilman Mr. Patrick McHale as the Police Commissioner for 2025. Councilman McHale was sworn in by Mayor Fede.
Other appointments approved were for Government Boards and Committees including the Boards for Planning and Zoning, Board of Health, and Library. Committees were Recreation, Environmental, Creative Arts Team and the Bogota Green Team. Other appointments were for the Borough professionals, along with the meeting and holiday schedules.
After Citizen comments the meeting was adjourned. The next regular Council meeting will be held on Thursday-16-January starting at 7:30p.
