Winter Concert 2024

 On Friday-13-December the Bogota High School Music Department held their Winter Concert for 2024.  The Concert Band took the stage under the Direction of Mr. David Abraham.  Their show consisted of five selections. Most were known Carols which included "Joy to the World", "Let it Snow" featuring a solo by Ms. Lola Hernandez, and "Wizards in Winter" The also played "I Want it That Way" for its uplifting mood. They ended their set by having a joint performance with the Concert Choir. Members of the Choir ringed the back of the Auditorium and sang the vocals to "This is Halloween" from the film The Nightmare before Christmas. 
As the Stage was being prepared for Concert Choir Mr. Juan Donado on flute and Mr. Andrew Wu on Keyboard played "Fleur De Lis" 
  The Concert Choir took their places on stage under the Direction of Mr. Michael Prachthauser, along with Ms. Harmony Chau on the Piano. They opened with a medley of songs from the Muppets Christmas Carol. This had Ms. Tsering Lama, Mr. Ian Engelhardt, and Mr. Eli Gregory with solo parts. Next was "December Moon" and they finished with "Hallelujah" from Handel's Messiah. The Choir was accompanied by Mr. Casey Grod, Mr. Allen Garcia, and Salvador Roman on Trumpets and Kettle Drum.
  After the intermission the Purple Notes then started their part of the show with their version of "I'll be Home for Christmas" "Auld Lang Syne" with a solo by Ms. Lola Hernandez. And ending with "White Christmas".
  Before the final act Ms. Tsering Lama on vocals & flute, and Mr. David Abraham played "I Wish You Love" as the stage was transformed.
   The final performance of the evening was by the Bogota Jazz Band starting with "Sideways Walkin' the Dog". A song used by the Marching Buccaneer Band this fall " Mucho Macho" with Mr. Allen Garicia and Mr. Juan Donado having solos. Next came "Santa Baby" with instrumental solos by Ms. Lola Hernandez, Mr. Niko Grimaldli, and Mr. Daniel Bennipayo. This also featured Mr. Ian Engelhardt on vocals. They ended the evening with "Here Comes Santa Claus".
Earlier in the set Mr. Abraham asked the Students who performed in all the Arts disciplines to stand up to be recognized for the work they needed to do throughout the year. 
  The Fine Arts Department next events are the Spring Musical of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" on Friday and Saturday 14 & 15 March. The Spring Concert on Friday-16-May, and their leading the Bogota Memorial Day Parade. 
  Parents of all Bogota Fine Arts are welcome to join the Band Parents Organization at their meeting on the second Tuesday of every month at 7:30p in the Bogota Recreation Center located at 162 W. Main St Bogota, NJ
