Tree Lighting

10-December-2024
On Sunday-8-December, the Borough of Bogota held their annual Christmas tree lighting in front of Borough Hall. A large crowd gathered to start the Holiday season in Bogota. There was a large bouncy Sleigh, from Bounce House Mania to jump on and pose for photos.  Beetch Barn Craft N ’Sip had  coloured sand for anyone to create sand art in small bottle. With Elfina and Students from Bogota High School serving Cookies and Hot Chocolate. Mrs. Claus walked around the street to hand out raffle tickets to the younger Students.
Music was provided by the St. Joseph Church of Bogota Choir. Along with Girls Scouts from Troop 98856. Both sang Christmas Carols on the steps to Borough Hall waiting for the arrival of a Special Guest.
Soon horns sounded and lights flashed which alerted everyone that something special was about to happen. Then the Bogota Volunteer Fire Department Engine Co. #1  and Hook and Ladder Co. #1. pulled up to Borough Hall. The Firefighters then assisted Santa Claus from the top of the Ladder Truck. He was greeted with cheers and claps of the children there to wish him a Mery Christmas. Santa walked through the crowd waving, shaking hands, and giving hugs to anyone who wanted one.
Once on the step Santa took the time to personally talk with some more children before he started the lighting countdown. When everyone got to the count of ONE the pine tree was lit up for the Holiday Season. Santa stayed a little longer to have his photos taken with anyone who wanted one.
