Bogota Borough Counci

6-December-2024

On Thursday-5-December the Bogota Borough Council held their Work Session meeting for the month.  Durning the Mayor's announcements Bogota Mayor Ms. Danele Fede asked for a moment remember Mr. Mr. Carmine Argenziano who died in a car accident on 1-December. Both Mr. Argenziano Father and Grandfather serve on the Bogota Rescue Squad.
In the discussion section. it was decided that the Sine-Die meeting, swear-in the elected candidates from the November election. This will take place on Saturday-4-January, 2025. It will be held in the Seniors Center and start at 1:00p. It is open to the Public.  Another item discussed was the moving of the Recycling Center. The owners of 24 River Rd. requested the Borough to temporally move the Department of Public Works equipment and storage containers for recyclable material.  All have been relocated to the Swim Club Parking Lot until May of 2025. The Council will consider plans for a permanent location, with public in-put at future meetings.
Next three ordinances were open to public comment before being voted on. the first one is to appropriate the funding to begin the construction of the new Community Center in Olsen Park.
A portion of the bond repayment will be covered from the “Community Enhancement” fund set-up by the Atwater project.  Which has deposited the final payment when the Certificate of Occupancy was given to Building #4
The next one was to reduce the number of members to the Recreation Committe from 7 to 5 members with two alternates. The third ordinance is to authorize the various improvements to Veteran’s Park in, by and for the Borough. Half of the funding is being provided by a Local Recreation Improvement Grant from the State of New Jersey. All ordinances were passed by unanimous vote.
When the consent agenda was voted on all resolutions were passed unanimously. A few sections of certain resolutions that were voted no on, or a member of Council need to recuse themselves.  This did not change the final passing of all resolution.
Item of note were:
- to approve the second phase of the Veterans Park, improves.
-to approve Mr. Jared Deutsch as a new member of Bogota Volunteer Fire Department Engine Co. #1
The meeting will be on Thursday-19-December. This will be an action session starting at 7.30. It will be held in the Council Chambers on the second floor of 375 Larch Ave. It will be an in-person meeting only and is open to the public.
