Bogota Basketball

  On Tuesday-17-December the Bogota Basketball Bucs opened their 2024-25 Winter sports season. The Lady Bucs would travel to Pompton Lake to play the Lady Cardinals.  Bogota would open the game with a three-point basket from Emma Fowler.  The Lady Cardinals would then score 14 of the next 16 points to take a 14-5 first quarter lead. By half time the home team built a 26- 11 margin on their way to a 49-27 win. Bogota's Emma Fowler had team highs with 17 points including 5 Three-point baskets. Pompton Lake's Mia Soto lead all players with 21 Points also scored 5 Three-point baskets. Chistina Ter-Meliksetian had a game high with 11 Rebounds to open her Varsity career. She also recorded 2 Block shots. 

  Bogota's record is now 0-1. They next play on Thursday-19-December against Waldwick. This will be their Home Opener on the Jay Mahoney Court in Speary Gym. with a 4:00p tip-off.

  The Men's Bucs hosted the Eastern Christian Eagles to open their season on the Jay Mahoney Court in Speary Gym. To start the game the team traded baskets for a 2 to 2 tie. Bogota would then go on a 21-5 point run to have a 23 t0 7 lead after the first eight minutes.  The Eagles started to reduce their deficit in the second quarter. But the Bucs still took a 34-to-21-point lead into the Locker Room.  After the restart Eastern Christian continued to cut into the Bogota lead. After three-quarter time the Bucs now held a 43-34 advantage. In the final quarter the Eagles moved ahead by the score of 47 to 45 with under four minutes to play. Bogota then scored the next ten points to retake the lead and move on for a 57 to 50 win.  The Bucs' Anner Hernandez had a game high with 21 Points. Andrew Genuario led the Eagles with 15 Points including 2 Three Point Baskets. Mr. Hernandez and Miguel Rodriguez both recorded 2 Three Point Baskets for Bogota. Brandon Nicolas and Lucas Cruz each recorded 5 rebounds.

Bogota's record is now 1-0.  They next play on Thursday-19-December at Emerson with a 7:00p tip-off.
