Football Senior Game

Thursday-17-October, the Bogota Football Bucs  hosted the Hawthorne Bears at the Lombardi Field in Palisades Park. This was the Senior game for the 2024 season. Before the game started, all  the Seniors were acknowledged for their years of service as Student- Athletes in Bogota High School.  First to be presented before the Audience was the 11 Players who walked forward with Family members. They were followed by the 3 Cheerleaders. One member of the Twirling  Squad and  Six Musicians of the Marching Buccaneer Band, all were also joined by their Families.
The game started with neither team scoring in the first 12 Minutes. Near the end of  the first quarter the Bucs  turned the ball over to Hawthorne  deep in their territory. Early in the second quarter Bogota’s Jayden Gonzalez  intercepted a Bears pass  and return the ball  for a 17 yard Touchdown. Justin Roca converted the extra point to give the home team a 7-0 lead.
Late in the second quarter  the Bucs Defense forced a fumble which was recovered by Mattew Mateo.  This set-up a short drive  for the Offense.  This was converted into a 2 yard Touchdown run by Ryan Lewis. Mr. Roca again completed the  Point After Attempt, growing  the Bogota advantage  to 14-0. This took place  with just under a minute left in the half. Hawthorne could not cover the following  kick-off and it was recovered by Derek Cabana.  Just 14 seconds later Ryan Lewis connected with Jaden Carrion for a 6 yard Touchdown pass. This time the kick failed, so Bogota would go into the Locker Room with a 20-0 lead.
  The score stayed the same until the final minute of the game when Hawthorne’s Anthony DeLallo had a one yard Touchdown run. The extra point was missed, and Bogota would win the game by the score of 20-6.
Ryan Lewis, in his first game after an Upper-Body injury,  would go 6 out of 15 in passing for 67 yards. He ran for 1 touchdown  and threw for a second one. He had 1 Interception.  Matt Heras led the team in rushing with 75 Yards. Jason Alvarado topped the  Bucs  in passing with 2 receptions for 35 Yards. Jayden Gonzalez  recorded  a team high with 10 Tackles in total.
They now have a record of 2-6. They next play on Saturday-26-October in Lodi. This will have a 1:00p kick-off.
