On
Saturday-7-September the Overpeck Creek Animal Hospital in Bogota hosted an
Animal Adoption event. This was done in conjunction with the North Shore Animal
League America. The Animal League arrived in a mobile kennel bring over a dozen
candidates for adoptions. There were 16
dogs and 3 cats. One side of the bus had a glass side to allow people to see
the animals from the outside. All the animals available were aged from 3 to 11
months. Many of them were mixed breeds. Patrons could also enter the bus and
walk between the kennels. Each enclosure had the name of the pet, its sex and
breed. The passersby could pet and interact with the animals, which in turn,
showed their excitements to the Humans.
There was a steady flow of people to the site to see what type of animals were available. Some were looking for a new member of their family. Others just wanted to see and interact with the cats and dogs. There were a few couples that started to focus on one particular candidate. They were given more information on their choice and a chance for both to get to know one another better. The humans then started the paperwork for adoption. The Offsite Team then did a background check, to ensure the safety for both the pets and the Humans. While this took place the Humans would take this time to buy gifts for the newest member of the Family. When everything was approved, an updated Family photo was taken.
By the end of the event 6 animals were adopted and joined their new families.
The Animal Hospital provided the Families with more information about care and treatment, along with schedules for a check-up. Everyone celebrated that another Forever Family has been created.
