Bogota Weekend Sports

 8-September -2024
Recaps of Bogota Varsity Sports for the games played from the start of the Fall. season
Thursday-29 August. The Bogota Football Bucs started their season against the Manchester Regional Falcons This was their first home at Lombardi Field in Palisades Park for the 2024 season.  The Falcons had a 7-0 lead at the end of the first 12 minutes. Bogota's Jayden Gonzalez ran for a 9-yard major score, but the Bucs could not convert the extra point. They trailed 6-7 going into half time.  In the fourth quarter the Bucs had two touchdown runs by Jason Alvarado. the first from 1 yard followed by a 4-yard run. Bogota took a 19-7 lead. The Falcons came back with two late touchdowns to win the game 20-19.
Wednesday-4-September the Bogota Soccer Bucs opened against Butler Bulldogs. Butler would score three times in the first half.  After the restart Bogota received 2 goals from Justin Lopez. Michael Rivera assisted on both. The Bulldogs would answer and win the game 5-2. Joshua Quevedo made 8 saves. 
Thursday-5-September the Soccer Bucs traveled to Pioneer Academy to face the Eagles. The home team recorded a 4-0 win. Joshua Quevedo made 9 saves. Bogota's record is now o-2. They next play on Tuesday-10-September at Leonia with a 7:00p kick-off
Friday-6-September The Bogota Lady Bucs opened their season in Secaucus against the Lady Patriots. Secaucus won the first set 25-9. Bogota came back to win the next set 25-23. The Lady Patriots took the final set by a score of 25-20 to win the match 2 to 1. Bogota's Emma Fowler had a match high with 7 Kills. Olivia Jasiczek had 14 Kills for the Lady Patriots. Secaucus's Sarah Veloz led all players with 7 Aces. Isabella Cruz had 3 Aces for the Lady Bucs. They have a record of 0-1. They next play on Tuesday-10-September in Leonia with a 4:00p first serve.
Friday-6-September the Bogota Football Bucs travel to play the Panthers in Wallington. After a scoreless first quarter Bogota would get the first points of the game with a 17-yard Touchdown pass from Jayden Gonzalez to Jason Alvarado. Justin Roca would kick the extra point. The Bucs would go into the locker room ahead 7-0. After the restart the score stayed the same until the fourth quarter. The Panthers' Joey Roman caught a 6-yard pass from Rober Miller. Wallington to not make the extra point and Bogota kept the lead at 7-6. Then the Bucs Matt Heras scored on a 37-yard interception return. Mr. Roca again converted the point after. Bogota held on to win the game by the score of 14-6.  Jason Alvarado ran for a game of 81 yard for Bogota. The Panthers were led by Daniel Kowal with 73 yards. Joey Roman had a game of 90 yard receiving for Wallington with Jason Alvarado recorded 17 yards received for Bogota. The Bucs record is now 1-1. The next play on Friday-13-Septermber hosting Weehawken on Lombardi Field in Palisades Park with a 7:00p kick-off.
Saturday-7-September The Bogota Cross Country Bucs ran at the Season Opener meet in Darlington Park. The Lady Bucs finished fourth out of the 16 schools fielding teams. Ana Michel was the top Bogota runner placing 14th. Taitum Sandoval-Diaz finished in 22nd with Fergie Onate-Avila in 24th. Maya Schiaratura came in at 32 with Jasmine Tineo in 42nd and Isabella Cruz in 48th. The Men's Varsity squad took 3rd place out of the 17 schools involved. Emmanuel Marin was second overall. Zohaib Syed was in 7th, and Hussain Salam taking the 13th spot. Raymond Ehrmann came in at 43rd and Ernesto Santana with a 57 finish. Their next meets are on Wednesday11-September at Garrett Mountain Racecourse    at 4:00p.
