Thursday-1-August, the Bogota Borough Council also had a Special Meeting to consider similar resolutions.
-authorizing and approving an amended and restated shared services agreement between the Borough of Bogota and the Bogota Board of Education related to Olsen Park Fields.
-Authorizing and Approving a Deed Notice for Stormwater Management Measurers in Relation to The Athletic Complex Site and Field Improvement Project at Olsen Park and Feigel Field.
These were passed by unanimous vote.
The resolutions needed to be approved before any work could begin. The first project will be refurbishing the Softball and Baseball fields on the east side of Olsen Park. This began Monday with the removal of a number of trees. Most trees that were removed were located on the new playing surface. Other trees were noted as unsafe or damaging the walking path.
The area within the walking path is planning to become the home field for both Varsity Softball and Baseball. It is also planned to hold Bogota Recreational Soccer. The grade of this area will also be raised and equipped with new drainage and irrigation systems. A new walking path will also be installed with a smoother paving system.
Over a dozen trees were removed and are scheduled to be replaced with about 20 native species of trees including Shade, and Ornamental varieties.
No completion date has been announced.
Another project that has begun is the demolition of the old Hess Garage on W. Ft. Lee rd. It is planned to be replace by a new Wendy’s restaurant.
