Hook and Ladder Co #1

20-August-2024
Monday-19-August, the Bogota Borough took delivery of a new ladder truck for Bogota Volunteer Fire Department Hook & Ladder Co. #1. Just after 6:00p the new vehicle announced its presentence with lights and sirens as it turns the corner from Larch Ave onto Board St. The truck took its position in front of the H&L Co#1 bay at the Board St. Station. Soon the current Hook & Ladder truck, with Engine Co. #1 returned from a call. The two ladder trucks then shared the driveway together. Members of the Fire Dept. (past and present) them examined the newest member of the department.
This is an E-One HR 100 Aerial vehicle; this includes such features as more streamlined cab front with rounded corners. A longer member interior cab giving more space for firefighters in their turn out equipment. A new feature is center located ladder tunnel, this will allow for storage of six ground ladders and six pike polls. With the ladders inside the main body more side equipment storage space has been created for quicker access for rescue equipment. The colour scheme is a fire truck red, with a red reflected strip. The edges and crew cable are black in colour.
The truck was constructed by Absolute Fire Protection of South Plainfield New Jersey.
After a first inspection by members of the Dept., they gathered at the front of the truck to hear a prayer by Father Scott Attanasio of St. Joseph Church in Bogota. Father Attanasio thanked the members for their service to the community and the work they do to protect others. Then he walked around the truck given a blessing for the service it will perform in the years to come.
Then the members of H&L Co.#1 paused to take a photo with their new truck. This was followed by Mayor Daniele Fede, and members of Council also posing in front.
Next the Company members will transfer equipment from the current truck to the new apparatuses so it can be ready for its job of maintaining the safety for the resident of Bogota.
