On Friday-7-June, the Lillian M Steen School concluded their “Week of the Arts” program for 2024. The Students were treated to a visit from the Bogota High School Fine Arts Department. These took place in the David Moore Gymnasium with all the Students attending.
The first group to perform were members of the
Spring Musical “Percy Jackson- The Musical.”
The cast acted out a number of scenes from the story. It started with
Percy Jackson learning who he really is. And continued to the end by saving the
world from Monsters. This performance displayed the skill of Acting solo and
with an ensemble cast. Along with Stage Fighting, singing, and the use of Props
in a show.
Next was to listen to the High School Choir group “The Purple Notes” This is a select number of Students who must audition in order to join. They performed four songs in total. Two as a group with one duet and one solo performance.
The final part of the morning was to hear the Bogota High School Jazz Band. They would start with one song as the Students listened. Then with the next three sets, the Steen Students had a chance to dance to the music. The youngest of the classes had the first opportunity to get up and move. Followed by Second & Third grades and ending with the Fourth & Fifth grade classes. Durning the dance the High School performers along with their Teachers dance with each grade. They were joined by the Teachers for Steen School.
