On Saturday-18-May, Bogota Mayor Ms. Daniele Fede hosted her first Wellness Walk with the Mayor. A program started under former Mayor Mr. Chris Kelemen to help promote the fitness benefits of a brisk walk in nature. This was lightly attended and started at the Southern end of the Environmental Walkway in Olsen Park, along the Hackensack River. The group moved to the gazebo across from the “Veterans Memorial Garden” with the memorial as a place of honour for those from Bogota that have served their country. They took a pause to see the grove of recently planted trees from the past year. Then the walk continued to journey behind the Band Stand, the Tennis & Basketball Courts and Picnic shelter.
Next was to cross W. Main St. and proceed around the Little League ball field. As they kept moving, the group looked at the condition of the area. Once they crossed back to the Western part of the park, they headed North-West and stopped again at the 1st Lt. William Ryan Memorial, located at the Bogota landing of the bridge dedicated to Lt. Ryan. They would travel along the Environmental Walkway and return to their starting point.
