On Thursday-16- May the Ridgefield Park-Bogota Baseball
Scarlets/Bucs hosted the Saddle Brook Falcons on Bassano Field in Little Ferry. This
was the Senior game for Ridgefield Park-Bogota. First the nine Seniors for Saddle
Brook were announced to the audience. Then Scarlets/Bucs Coach Mr. Chris Gaskin
announced the nine Senior players: Dave Castillo, Nick Buda, Hector Zarzuela, Shea Losino,
Jonathan Naumchik, Juan Medina, Josh Friedman, Bryan Hernandez, and Victor Rodriguez.
The game started with the Falcons opening the
scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. In the home half of that
inning the Scarlets posted three runs to take a 3 to1 lead. Ridgefield Park-Bogota then scored 2 runs in both the third and sixth inning. With two outs in the top
of the seventh, and a six-run advantage, Head Coach Mr. Scott Papetti walked
out to the mound. He would first reach out to shake the hand of starting
pitcher Mr. Josh Friedman and took the ball. Mr. Friedman was also
congratulated by his teammates joining him in the middle of the Diamond. As he
walked to the dugout he was greeted with applause by the crowd in attendance.
Mr. Friedman pitched 6 2/3 innings throwing a season high of 10 Strikeouts.
This would be his seventh win for the year. He also hit 1 Triple with 1 Run
Batted In. Shea Losino would go 3 for 3
, scoring 2 times and stole 3 bases. Jason Alvarado hit two Double and recorded
a game high of 3 RBI.
On Saturday-18-May, Ridgefield Park-Bogota hosted Weehawken in the final game of the regular season. After a scoreless first inning, the Scarlets’ scored 16 runs in the next three innings. They won the game by a score of 16-0. Hector Zarzuela pitched a no hitter in the five-inning game. He had 8 Strikeouts in his first win of the season. Emmauel Paula it the only Home Run of the game and recorded 4 Runs Batted In. Bryan Hernandez had 2 Stolen Bases. Victor Rodriguez had 1 Triple, with Jason Alvardo hitting 1 Double.
The Scarlets /Bucs record is now 14-10. They next play on Thursday-23- May at Summit in the first round of the NJSIAA North Jersey section 2 Group 3 playoffs. Time to be announced
