On Friday-29-March, the 24
River Gallery hosted an opening reception for their first group show.
This is a display of graffiti, street, and pop art. The featured works are by Ms.
Christine DeFazio, Ms. Rita Flores, Ms. MariaTeresa Ortiz Naretto, Ms. Myrna
Richards, Mr. Joel Yobe Beleno, Mr. Leon Rainbow, and PK Kid. All the artists
are based in New Jersey and have been exhibited in the surrounding area. All
the works are in an impressionism style.
The themes that were depicted ranged from the experiences of growing up in the urban environment. Another theme is showing a reflection of cultural conflicts. Along with the observation of popular art in a new way. Most were painted works with many being mixed medians. Oil and acrylic paints were used with spray paint, wax application and collaging to create the artwork. Also, electronic media was used to show interpretation of familiar images. At the opening, refreshments were available from To Gather Coffee. The gallery is located in the first-floor hallway of 24 River Rd. Bogota NJ. It can be viewed during regular business hours.
