2024 Ridgefield Park MS Walk.

On Saturday-14-April the National Multiple Sclerosis Society for Metro New Jersey held the 2024 Ridgefield Park Walk. This took place in Overpeck Park near the Amphitheatre. Over 755 participants in 65 team took an early Sunday morning to show support for those effected by MS and to help find a cure for the disease. The walkers had two choices of routes to use. There was a 1-mile course that looped the Amphitheatre. As well as a 3-mile trail that was extended to the Bergen Equestrian Center. Another new experience this year was the Circles of Support. They consist of the Orange circle representing those living with MS. A Green circle represents those who love or support a person who is living with MS, including remembrances. With a Yellow circle representing those who support the Society’s mission. During the pre-walk ceremonies a person, or team, stood on stage and held one of the colors they are most associated with. Then those in attendance held up a matching circle. The last presentation was when the people on stage held their circles togethers. Then there was a sea of Orange, Green and Yellow circles in front of the stage.
The walk began with all the participants heading to the southern entrance to the park. A line of supporters wished them encouragement. The walkers then continued to move along the trail bordering Overpeck Lake. At about the quarter mile mark the walker split into two group. A majority of the walkers chose to go the full distant. When the participants returned, they were greeted with cheers and applause congratulating them for their accomplishment.
