On Thursday-7-March the Bogota Borough Council held their work session meeting for the month of March. After hearing Citizens Remarks, the Council moved to have Mr. Anthony Montano be sworn in as the newest member of the Bogota Police Department. He was given the oath of Office by Bogota Mayor Ms. Daniele Fede. Officer Montano was accompanied by his Wife and Officers of the Bogota, and other Police Departments. Then it was announced at Detective Hector Liriano has been promoted to the rank of Captain for the Bogota Police. This was followed by the announcement of Sargent Geoffrey Cole being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant for the Bogota Police. Both Officers will be sworn in, to their new positions, at the Council Meeting on Thursday-21-March. This will be held in the Senior Centre at 375 Larch Ave. starting at 7:30p. Next the Council held discussions on a number of topics. The first was to ask for input for the Council members about the Borough Employee Manual, along with making amendments to the By-Laws. Next was to hear from the Attorney about should an ordinance be created for tree removal or replacement. The final point was to review the traffic pattern for the intersection at River Rd. and W. Shore Ave. Then the Council introduced two new Ordinances. One is to revisit the amendment about Stormwater Control. The second was a Bond Ordinance for the improvement, or acquisition, of equipment. These will be open for a Public hearing, at the Council Meeting on Thursday-21-March. After this the Consent Agenda was passed by unanimous vote. Items of note were to approve the agreement of professional services for the Olsen Park improvements. Also to approve the Opposition of New Jersey Assembly Bill 4 and New Jersey Senate Bill number 50. These would make changes in the application of affordable Housing for the Municipalities in New Jersey. The Council then approved Mr. Robert O’Keefe, Mr. Joseph Derienzo, and Mr. Kyle Farrington as new members of the Bogota Volunteer Fire Department. Also approved were Mr. Daniel Fuksbrumer, Mr. Philip Meyer and Mr. Yacov Insel as new members of the Bogota Rescue Squad. Along with a budget for the Bogota Memorial Day Parade. This was followed by the Governing Body moving into a closed session. When the Public meeting was called back into order, two resolutions were voted on. The first was to offer a contract to Mr. Philip Conte to become the new Recreation Director. This was approved by unanimous vote. The second was to re-approve the contract to use Enterprise Leasing to obtain and service official vehicles for the Borough. This was approved by a 4-1 vote with one abstention. The next Bogota Borough Council Meeting will be on Thursday-21-March at 7:30p. It will take place in the Second Floor Seniors Centre located at 373 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ. This will be an in-person meeting only and open to the Public.
