Bogota Borough Council meeting

  On Tuesday-1-January the Bogota Borough Council had their work session meeting. At the start of the meeting there was a presentation by the Bogota Public Library. Library Director Ms. Sara Cassaro gave summary of their Strategic plan for the next three years. Ms. Cassaro told the Council that their main goals of this plan are: - Actively guide our community to the materials and tools that enhance a love of reading and foster creativity. - Ensure our library has appropriate space to serve the residents of our community. -Build community by engaging with, and connecting, our diverse population. -Enhance community awareness of, and access to, our programs and services.

Next came a number of items for open discussion. The first was led by Mayor Daniele Fede about renaming the current Fireman. The Mayor suggested the name Veteran's-Memorial Park. This is to recognize the World War I Memorial in the park. Along with the inclusion of a standing clock that will have the names of Bogota residents who passed away because of the Covid Pandemic. This was passed by unanimous vote.
  Another item of discussion was to suspend the hybrid meeting system. This is to improve the system in-order to eliminate the delays and dropping of signals that occur. The Council hopes to have a new system soon.
 Then the meeting focused on the Consent Agenda. The one resolution voted on was to accept the resignation of Mr. Edward Hynes as Borough Administrator. A separate resolution voted on was to approve a proposal for the new Community Center in Olsen Park. These were passed by unanimous vote. Other approvals that were past was to host a Ramadan event on Saturday-9-March with the time will be announced later. Along with scheduling the annual budget meeting for Thursday-22-February.
  After Executive session the Council voted to offer Mr. Conall O'Malley a contract to become the Borough Administrator. This was passed by unanimous vote. Another item voted on was to end the contract with Enterprise Leasing for any more Police vehicles. This was passed by a 4-2 vote.
The next Council meeting is Thursday-15-February at 7:30p. It will be held in the Council Chambers on the second floor of 375 Larch Ave. This will be an in person meeting only, starting at 7:30p.
