Bogota Seniors Christmas

 On Tuesday-17-December the Bogota Seniors held their Christmas Party in the Senior Center. This features a buffet luncheon with karaoke available.  A number of attendees stepped forward to sing Holiday songs. The music also inspired other to dance to the rhythms being played.
The music was provided by Mr. John Joseph " Mr. Double J".  Soon lunch was served with the food being provided by Mr. Phil Conte, Director of Recreation for the Borough of Bogota. Then winners were selected in the Fair Share raffle. Each winner received small cash prizes. Then that person would then pick the next winning ticket. At the end of the afternoon guest would be given a gift bag to take home.
 The Bogota Seniors Citizens Assocation is a community group for local resident to socialize and get information on events and other community actives. They meet every first and third Tuesday of the month in the Senior Center on the second floor of 375 Larch Ave.

Bogota Board of Education

 19-December-2024

 On Tuseday-17-December the Bogota Board of Education had their final meeting for 2024. 
In his Superintendent’s report Mr. Damien Kennedy first introduced Student Representative Ms. Jhoana Morales. She announced that the Bogota Cross Country Bucs had the highest-grade point average in their Conferance. This was for both the Women's and Men's squad.
  Superintendent Kennedy then informed the Trustees that the district opened their 10th pre-school classroom, which met the requirement to have free Pre-K for Students living in Bogota.
 Then the trustees voted on the Consent Agenda, all resolutions were passed by unanimous
vote. One item of note was to approve Ms. Griselys Lopez as new Head Cheerleading Coach for the Winter Season.
 The Trustees then had an Executive Session. When the meeting was reconvened, they voted to approve a resolution that authorized the Trustees to form a committee to hear Student residency appeals. This was passed by unanimous vote. The members of the committee will be announced at a future meeting.
The next Bogota Board of Education meeting will be a Regular meeting on Tuesday-7-January, at 7:00pIt will be the swearing in of the candidates who won the seats to be Trustees from the 2024 General Election. It will also be available online. The meeting is open to the public.

  The Borough has started a Hometown Heroes Banner program. This will allow residents of Bogota to honor a family member who serviced in the Armed Servies. The cost of a banners will be $150.00 payable to the Borough of Bogota.  The Village of Ridgefield Park has made available the sign up and the trial period for their Food Waste Municipal Composting Program through the end of the year.

Leaf season is from Monday-14-October until Monday-23-December. Homeowners are allowed to place raked, leaves and grass cutting in the street, along the curb, in front of their residents.  It is asked that the piles be placed in such a way as not to interfere with traffic, and away from storm sewers and drain to prevent flooding, or other water build-up. Leaf Season is schedule to end on Monday-23-December after that date all yard waste must be placed in brown leaf bags for pick-up. 
                                                       

                             
Note:
The Bogota Department of Public Works have moved the Recycling Center to the Swim Club Parking Lot at the end of Feller Pl.  This will accept Cardboard Monday to Friday from 8:00a to 2:00p. And Saturdays 9:00a to 1:00p. 
Closed on Holidays and Sundays.

The members of the Bogota Volunteer Fire Department will be escorting Santa around the borough on Sunday-22-Decembe this wall start around noon. Then again on Christmas Eve  24-Decemner beginning around 5:00pm.
