Jay Mahoney Jam Fest

    On Saturday-30-December the Bogota Basketball Bucs hosted the Promise Academy I Panthers in the Men's Varsity finals of the Jay Mahoney Jam Fest, in Speary Gym. The Panthers opened the game with 6 straight points.  Bogota then cut into the lead, but Promise Academy soon opened a 7-point margin.  The Bucs again closed the gap and trailed by one 18-17 at the end of the first eight minutes.  Bogota would take over the lead then the team for settle for a couple of tie scores before the Panthers would take a 38-30 advantage into the half. The Bucs took some control of the third quarter and created three more ties leading to a 50-50 score after three quarters.  The Panthers again took the lead, with Bogota staying close. With just over a dozen seconds left in the game Promise Academy had a 58-55 lead. Bogota's Michael Olivio hit a Three Points Basket from the left side of the arc to make the game 58 all leaving 9.1 seconds on the clock. The Panthers made one final rush down the court and put in the winning points on the rebound from with 2.1 seconds left. The Bucs could not cleanly inbound the ball and Promise Academy would get the 60-58 win. 

  Michael Olivio had a game high with 21 Points. Jaiden Gonzalez scored 2 Three Points Baskets. 
Julian H had team highs with 18 Points including 2 Three Points Basket for Promise Academy
Jayden Baca for Bogota, and David Golson for Promise Academy won the award for Academic and Athletic Student Award. Mr. Golson also was named Most Valuable Player in the Men's Varsity Division. 

Bogota's record is now 3-4. They next play on Wednesday-3-January hosting Palisades Park starting at 7:00p. This will be held on the Jay Mahoney Court in Speary Gym.
