2-December-2023
On Friday-1-December the Borough of Bogota held their annual tree lighting in front of Borough Hall. In a light, but steady rain, about 50 residents gathered to take part in the event. The Bogota Board of Recreation offered refreshment, with the Bogota Public Library having an array of snacks available. Mrs. Claus was there to greet everyone who came to join the celebration.
Girls Scouts from Troop 98856 stood on the steps to Borough Hall and sang Christmas Carols to the crowd waiting for the arrival of a Special Guest. Soon horns sounded and lights flashing which alerted everyone that something was about to happen. Then the Bogota Volunteer Fire Department Engine Co. #1 pulled up to Borough Hall. The Firefights open the cab door and escorted Santa Claus to the sidewalk. He was greeted with cheers and claps of the children there to wish him a Mery Christmas. Santa walked through the crowd waving, shaking hands and giving hugs to anyone who wanted one. Then he started to pass out candy canes as he moved closer to the front of the building.
Once on the step Santa took the time to personally talk with a some more children before he started the lighting countdown. When everyone got two ONE the pine tree was lite up for the Holiday Season. Santa stayed a little longer to have his photos taken with anyone who wanted one.
