Lady Bucs Volleyball

On Wednesday-1-November the #4 Bogota Lady Bucs Volleyball team hosted the #5 Saddle Brook Lady Falcons in the Quarterfinal round of the 2023 New Jersey State Emerson Lady Cavaliers in the opening round of the 2023 New Jersey State Interscholastic Association North Jersey, Section 1, Group 1 Tournament at Speary Gym. 
  The first set was opened with Bogota serving first. The Lady Falcons would score the first four points of the set. The Saddle Brook would then create a lead of 6-points soon after.  The Lady Bucs closed the margin to one point with serving by Isabella Cruz. Saddle Brook would reestablish their lead behind a 5-point run with serving by Emily Rychlak . They would go on to the set by a score of 25-18.
   In the second set Saddle Brook served first, with the Lady Bucs opening the scoring. The Visitors would even the set at one apiece. This theme would continue for the entire set. Bogota had a lead of 7 to 4. The Lady Falcons then tied the set at 9 to 9, 10 to 10 and once more at 12 all. Saddle Brook moved ahead by scores of 14-13 then at 15-14. The Lady Falcon pushed the advantage to 20-16.  Bogota regained service and had Melannie Solis start a 5-point run, to give her team the lead at 22-20. The teams then traded points and Bogota would tie the match with a 25-21 win. The second set had 10 ties and 4 lead changes.

  The final set started with Saddle Brook again serving. Bogota would turn that around and grab a 2-0 lead.  They would double the Saddle Brook point total at 8 to 4. The Lady Bucs' Melannie Solis then service for the next 8 points. This gave Bogota a double digit advantage. The Lady Bucs maintained their offense to win the set by a score of 25-17 and a 2-1 match victory. They now have a record of 17-6. 
  Isabella Cruz had a match and career high with 18 Kills. Saddle Brooks Francesca Accetta recorded 16 Kills.  Kaelee Zuniga scored a match high 36 Assist, with Alexa Szecsi having 14 Assists. Emily Rychlak recorded a match and career high of 31 Digs for the Lady Falcon, she also led all players with 18 Service Points including 5 Aces, both career bests.  Bogota's Jenelly Jimenez had 16 Digs.  Ms. Jimenez and Melannie Solis recorded 10 Service Points with 2 Aces, Ms. Cruz also had 2 Aces. Anandi Figueroa accounted for a match and career high of 4 Blocks for Bogota. Saddle Brooks' Madison Brickley and Ava Piccinich both had 1 Block each.

Bogota next plays at #1 Glen Rock the Semifinal Round of the 2023 New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association North Jersey, Section 1, Group 1 Tournament. This will take place on Friday-3- November.
