Bogota Council

On Thursday-13-July the Bogota Borough Council had their Regular meeting for the month. 

 After the first Public Comment session Bogota Mayor Mr. Christopher Kelemen swore in the new Borough Clerk. Ms. Yenlys Flores-Bolivard.  She was accompanied by her Family, as her daughter held a Bible for the Ceremony.  Hailing from the Dominican Republic, Ms. Flores-Bolivard has first hired at an Assistant Clerk in in 2016. With the departure of Ms. Jeanne Cook, Ms. Flores-Bolivard was appointed at Interim Clerk.  Soon afterward she took courses to earn become a Certified Municipal Clerk. In June of this year Ms. Flores-Bolivard passed the examination on her first attempt.  She was voted in as the Borough Clerk by unanimous vote.

  After the meeting was called back into session there was a continuation of the discussed on a proposal to lease Borough vehicles from Enterprise Fleet Management. This will be further discussed at future meetings after reviewed by the Borough Attorney, and the Financial Officer.

  The Council then voted on the introduction of four Ordinances.  Two were to update, and amended the Borough's Traffic Code.  The other two was to amend the Borough's Zoning Code. The Zoning Code Ordinance will first to re-voted on by the Zoning Board. Their next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday-25-July at 7:30p. It will be held in the Council Chamber on the third floor of 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ. It is open to the Public. The introduction of the Ordinances were passed by unanimous vote.  These ordinances will be presented to the Public at the next Regular meeting scheduled for Thursday-17-August. It will be held in person, and online starting at 7:00p

 The resolutions on the Consent Agenda were passed by unanimous vote. Items of note was to approve the purchase of equipment for the Department of Public Works. And to authorize a contract to begin to digitize the Municipal's paper records.  And finally, the approval of Ms. Coleen Kelly as a new member of the Recreation Committee. 

   The next Borough Council Regular meeting will be held on Thursday-17-August starting at 7:00p.  This will be held in-person, and in a Hybrid format, is scheduled to be held in the Council Chambers starting at 7:00p.

Bogota Borough Hall will operate on their Summer hours. They are Monday to Thursday 8:30a to 5:30p. Friday 8:30a to 12:30p
