On Thursday-16-March the Bogota Borough Council held their second meeting for the month. They first considered a number of items for discussion. A couple were brought to a vote. They were to advertise to hire for a part-time fire prevention person to assist in inspecting structures within the Borough for safety. The other item was to approve the implementation of a Hybrid system for the Council meetings. Both items were passed with a unanimous vote. The Hybrid system will be launched for the next Council meeting scheduled for Thursday -6-April at 7:00p. Details for usage will be added to the agenda for that meeting.
Next the Council voted on two ordinances. The first was to have Public Hearing on the ordinance to amend the affordable housing set-aside for the Borough. After Public comment the Council approve the ordinance was approved by unanimous vote. This amendment will require all new residential development, of 5 units or more, to have the appropriate number of units to be used for affordable housing. The second ordinance will be to fund the Ridgefield Ave. Road improvements. The Public hearing for this ordinance will take place at the Council meeting scheduled for Thursday-20-April at 7:00p.
Then the Council voted on the resolutions on the consent agenda. All items were passed by unanimous votes. Items of note were approving funding for the 2023 Memorial Day Parade.
The hiring for Summer employees for the Recreation Department, and to allow Bogota Blog NJ to be authorized to post Borough Public Announcements on its website. Along with to advertising for bids for the Larch Ave. improvement project.
The Council approved the fee waive for Friends of the Bogota Library for Municipal raffles.
-Saturday-18-March will be the free rabies clinic starting at 10:00a. It will be held at the Broad St. Firehouse.
-Tuesday-21-March will be the Borough's Official celebration of Ramadan in front of Borough Hall starting at 7:00p
-Monday-27-March, by 4:00p, Deadline of the nomination petitions for the June-2023 New Jersey Primary Elections
-Saturday-29-April Bogota Recuse Squad boot drive on from 8:00a to 4:00p
The next Borough Council meeting will be held on Thursday-6-April starting at 7:00p. It will be in-person, and in a Hybrid format, is scheduled to be held in the Council Chambers located on the third floor of 375 Larch Ave Bogota, NJ. For more information please visit: https://www.bogotaonline.org/
