On Thursday-19-May the Bogota Borough Council held their second meeting of the Month. After a Executive Session to discuss the hiring of a new Borough Administrator, the Public meeting was called back in session.
This began with Bogota Mayor Christopher Kelemen paying tribute to longtime Bogota Recreation Director Mr. Jim Moore who will retire at the end of the Month. He said how Mr. Moore is the longest serving director in the history of the Borough. Mayor Kelemen mentioned a few of the programs that have grown under Mr. Moore guidance, including the Summer Camp and the Easter Egg Hunt. It was also mention, that on top of his normal duties, Mr. Moore could be seen pick-up groceries for Senior Citizens when needed, and offering them rides to Medical appointments. The Mayor then presented Mr. Moore with a plaque recognizing his service to the Borough. This had a photos of Mr. Moore at his final Egg Hunt this year surrounded by just some of the many Children of Bogota he had cared for over the years.
The Council unanimously passed all the items voted on. Items of note was to pass the adoption of the 2022 Municipal Budget. To amend the Borough code on "Driveway Aprons" This will now allow driveway running across the sidewalks and to the street to be made of concrete pavers and as well as poured concrete. To increase the Cat and Dog licence fee to $12.00 per year for all pets which have been spayed or neutered. The fee is$15.00 for those pets that have not been spayed or neutered.
During the Council reports several announcements were made. During shredding event on Saturday 21-May, reusable shopping bags will be given out to each person dropping old paper work. Limit one per car. The Shred Day will take place at the Recreation Centre Parking Lot from 9:00a to 1:00p. Mayor Kelemen announced that the Bogota Memorial Day remembrance service will take at 11:00a in front of Borough Hall. And the Memorial Day Parade will start at 2:00p on Palisades Ave and travel to Borough Hall.
There was also the announcement of Public meeting schedule changes. The next meeting will still be Thursday-2-June schedule to start at 7:30p. A Special Meeting will be held on Thursday-16-June. This meeting will start at 6:30p The main purpose of this meeting is to negotiate with contractors about the cost of construction of the proposed Recreation Center. Much of this meeting will be heard in Executive Session. There will also be a regular meeting on Wednesday-29-June scheduled to start at 7:30p.
All meeting are open to the Public, and will take place in the Council Chamber, or the Senior Centre both located at 375 Main St, Bogota ,NJ.
The Borough is seeking a Full Time position of Deputy Borough Clerk/Registrar. This position can be applied for by, qualified candidates providing a cover letter and resume with three (3) references to Mr.Edward Hynes, admin@bogotaonline.org, Borough Administrator.
