On Tuesday-15-February the Bogota Lady Bucs Basketball team hosted the Ridgefield Lady Royals on the Jay Mahoney Court in Speary Gym. This was the Senior game for Bogota. Before the tip-off Lady Bucs Head Coach Ms. Christina Minieri introduced the Senior Players for both teams. First Ridgefield’s Deja Fernandez, and Yenailin Flores. were presented to the Audience. Then Coach Minieri called up the five Seniors for Bogota. Janellis Guzman, Mira Sarabamon , Ashley Bartitsa, Kaylin Torres and Maryann Gesmundo were given a bouquet of flowers as Coach Minieri talked about each player contribution to Bogota Basketball.

When the game started the teams traded baskets with caused three different ties. The last at 10 apiece midway through the first Quarter. Then the Lady Royals got three point scoring from Stacy Gomez to take a 19 to 10 advantage after 8 minutes. Bogota closed the margin in the second Quarter but still trailed 24 to 18. After the restart the Lady Bucs started to control the tempo of the game. They took advantage of Ridgefield lack of scoring to reduce the margin. With under a minute and a half in the third quarter, Bogota’s Maryann Gesmundo drove down the right towards the basket. Her effort drew a foul while shooting, and was award two free throws. She made the first one to tie the score at 26. Then Ms. Gesmundo converted the second shot to take a one point lead. Bogota would still be in the lead at the Three Quarter Time mark 29 to 28. The Lady Bucs defense would then hold Ridgefield scoreless in the final quarter and earn a 35 to 28 win.
Bogota’s Ashley Batista would finish with a game and career high of 17 Points. Maryann Gesmundo scored a team high with 2 Three Point Baskets. The Lady Royals were led by Stacy Gomez with 11 Points including 3 Three Point Basket.
Bogota’s record is now 5 and 12. They next play on Wednesday 16 February against Cresskill. This will be on the Jay Mahoney court in Speary Gym with a tip off at 4:00p
