Lady Bucs Volleyball

  On Thursday-11-November the Group I,  North Section I Champions  Bogota Lady Bucs played Group I,  North Section 2 winners Verona Lady Hillbillies in the State group 1 semifinals of the 2021 New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association playoff tournament. This was played at Verona, NJ. 

  Bogota would open the first set seving and get the first point of the match. Lady Hillbillies would then get the next two points  the teams shared the first 20 points of the set which stoll at 10-10. This was after 9 ties and 3 lead changes.  The Lady Bucs would open a small 2 point lead, but soon the set would be tied at 14 apiece.  Seniah Burrell served Bogota to a four point lead, then serving by Angelina Buhler made it an eight point advantage. Bogota would win this set by a score of 25-19

   The second had Verona serving first, but Bogota getting the first point.  Again after 20 points  with each team would have 10 of them.  Bogota got a 2 point lead, but the Lady Hillbillies worked to a 20-20 tie. The Lady Bucs came within 2 points of a match win only to have Verona tie the set at 24 each.  Bogota had another chance to win the match  in extra points with the score 27-26.  Lady Hillbillies scored the next three points and win the second set 29-27.

  Verona won the coin-toss and served first. They would also grab a 1-0 lead.  After three more ties Bogota had their first by the score of 4-3. The Lady Hillbillies went on a three point run and regained a 6-5 lead.  after a 7 to 7 tie score Angelina Buhler served Bogota to a four point advantage.The Lady Bucs would continue to add to their lead but Verona would stop them from taking total control of the set. Bogota would close to another match win until the Lady Hillbillies went on a 6-0 run to force the last tie of the match 23 to 23.  Bogota regained service and  Angelina Buhler served the winning point making the score 25-23 and the match win by 2 sets to 1. 

   Bogota's record is now 26-2. They will compete in the Group 1 finals against Delaware Valley  Saturday-13-November. This will take place at William Paterson University with the first serve scheduled for 10:00a
    Ashanna Caviness led Bogota with 16-Kills and 19 Digs. Mia Pimentel recorded 32 Assists.  Angelina Buhler scored 13 service Points including 4 Aces.
