On Monday-5-July-2019 the Village of Ridgefield Park, NJ held their 127th annual Independence Day Celebration. This was moved to Monday since the Fourth was on a Sunday. Two years after their incorporation as an Independent Community the first Fourth of July Celebration was held in 1894. This marks the oldest continuous celebration in the State of New Jersey. This years event started with the reading of the Declaration of Independence and flag raising at Memorial Plaza on Euclid St. Then the Ridgefield Park Volunteer Fire Department held the annual inspection of members and Equipment. At 9:00a the Baby & Youth Parade. Finally with a cannon shot at 11:30a the Ridgefield Park Civic Parade stepped off.
The Parade was lead down Main Street by Ridgefield Park Police Chief Joseph Rella. He was followed by the Police Colour Guard and the Bergen County Pipe and Drum Band. Next came members of the Ridgefield Park Board of Commissioners. This included Mayor John Anlian accompanied by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy. They were followed by Parade Grand Marshall Mr. Gerard Garofalow. The rest of the parade feature a mixture of local groups and organizations from the Village. The Elementary Schools and Youth Sports clubs walked down Main St. in front of Family and Friends. Marching bands and twirling Squads from neighboring towns played music and showed off their skill along the route. Classic & custom cars along with local business representing the Village. Members of the Ridgefield Park Police, Fire, Ambulance and Rescue squads displayed the best the Village had of offer in service to Ridgefield Park.
Members from Bogota’s Rescue Squad 46 brought their members and equipment to show-off for their Neighbors. The Bogota Buccanettes Twirling performed for the crowd and judges. The Bogota Volunteer Fire Dept. lead the way of the neighboring Fire Departments ended the festivities with a loud and colorful display of lights and sirens.
