Bogota Board of Education

 On Tuesday-20-April the Bogota Board of Education held their first meeting for the month of April.  In his report Superintendent Mr. Damien Kennedy gave an update about the 5 day in class session in the district. Both the Elementary  schools will continue with their staggered 3-day/ 2-day in person classroom weeks. This will have one group will attend Monday, Wednesday, & Thursday for a week. And the next group will attend Tuesday, Wednesday , and Friday the next week. Superintendent Kennedy added that the High School now has 70 Students coming into the building for in person learning. Steen School has an in person attendance of 170 Students. With Bixby School has 130 Students in class.  No decision has been made to fully open all the classrooms as yet. The district is still in contact with state and local health officials about  opening the schools safely.  Another point Superintendent Kennedy said the there will be no standardize State testing this year. He added that an assessment testing program may occur in the fall. He finished by congratulating the Lady Bucs Volleyball team for their Section Championship earlier that day.  Along with the wins by the Bogota Track & Field squad and the Saddle Brook/Bogota Baseball teams.

     All consent agenda items were moved to be formally voted on at the next Board meeting.  Some of the newer items of note were the 2021-22 school calendar.  Two items were voted on. One was the hiring of  Ms. Crystal Santiago as a Biology teacher at the High School. She will begin immediately for the rest of the 2021 year. 

 Another item was to hire two substitute school nurses for the remainder of the 2021 school year. Both resolutions were passed by a unanimous vote.

     The next Board of Education meeting will be on Tuesday-27-April and is scheduled to start at 7:00p. This will be a virtual meeting and is open to the public.Please click the link below to join the webinar:
