Bogota Board of Education

   On-Tuesday-9- February the Bogota Board of Education held their first meeting for the month of February. In his Superintendent’s report Mr. Damien Kennedy said that the E.Roy Bixby school will reopen for in person learning on Thursday-18-February. This following a covid-19 closing and full cleaning of the building. He also said that the chat feature on the virtual meeting will be suspended. Residents will still be able to use the question and answer link  or to use the raise hand feature, so they can be called on to ask a question, or have a comment in the public session. 

   The rest of the Superintendent’s report was dedicated to listening to a representative from the  New Jersey School Board Association (NJSBA). This was an annual review of NJSBA policies on the conduct elected Trustees on Public School Board should follow. 

   Then the trustees reviewed the consent agenda items. After a few question for clarification all these items were moved to be voted on in the next Board of Education meeting. One item that was vote on was to authorize a resolution to be sent to New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy.  This is to encourage the Governor to add  Educators and School Staff to be considered  as Essential Workers.  This would allow school personal to receive covid -19 vaccinations as soon as possible. The result of all staff members being vaccinated would be to allow for more in-person in a timely manner.  

   In the Trustees reports some of the more noteworthy item was that the Building and Grounds committee held an inspection of St. Joseph school so it can be use by the Bogota Public School District.  A review of the addition of solar panels in the district. And the continuing process of  adding safety film to all the classrooms doors in the district.

 The next Board of Education meeting will be on Tuesday-23-February and is scheduled to start at 7:00p. This will be a virtual meeting and is open to the public.  Access information to be announced at a later date.
