On Friday-4-December the Borough of Bogota held a virtual tree lighting ceremony for the 2020 Holiday season. This was hosted by Bogota Mayor Chris Kelemen, his was joined by Councilwoman Connie Carpenter. There was also some special guest in attendance. Santa Claus himself took the time to help light the Borough’s tree. Along with him was Mrs. Claus and Elfina to assist in sharing this event online. Mayor Kelemen welcomed the guest to Borough Hall, and welcomed every who watched from home. He shared his hope that next year everyone can join in person for next years Tree Lighting. But he really wishes everyone can stay safe and healthy now, and into next year so that everyone can be together again. he information the audience that this marks the 40th year of this Borough tree that was planted by the Bogota Girl Scouts. Mayor Kelemen then dedicated this event to honour the memories of all those who have passed away in 2020.
It was then Santa Claus turn to step forward and lead the countdown to turn on the lights. When the count came down to 1. Mr Claus gave a joyous shout of “ MERRY CHRISTMAS” and the 2020 Christmas Tree began to shine with light. Then Mrs Claus spoke to the Children watching at home to say the she and Santa miss all of them, and hope they are staying safe and continue to be good. Santa then looked into the recording devises to wish everyone watching a Merry Christmas and to look for him when he travels through Bogota with the Firefighter passing out lollipops.
On Thursday-10- December the Bogota Menorah lighting will take place this is scheduled for 5:30p. It will be accessible on zoom using the ID 6189046388 no passcode is needed. This will also be streamed on “Bogota NJ Families” facebook page. For this first night of Hanukkah Bogota Mayor Chris Kelemen will be joined by Rabbi Simon from Teaneck.
On Sunday-20-December the annual Lollipop Sunday will take place. Santa will be escorted around Bogota by the Fire Department starting close to 10:00a to see all the Children of the Borough.
