On Saturday- 21-November the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bogota held their annual Turkey Drive to assist those who may need help in having a Thanksgiving meal this year. Trinity Pastor Lisa Holliday, and members of the congregation were on hand to greet everyone who brought a donation. Theses items that were accepted included frozen Turkeys and non-perishable food items, along some household good to help prepare a Thanksgiving dinner. A number of younger members of the church were also on hand to collection items. While waiting for donations to arrive, they passed the time in colouring a Thanksgiving table cloth to add some more brightness to the day
This year they are working in cooperation with St. Peter's Church of River Edge. The donated items will go to the Community Food Bank of New Jesey. In addition to supplying meals for those in need the Community Food Bank of New Jesey can provide other services. They are an organization based in Hillsdale, NJ to fight hunger and poverty in New Jersey by assisting those in need and seeking long-term solutions. They also offer guidance to engage, educate and empower all sectors of society. Working together with volunteers, donors and our many partners, they work to fill the emptiness caused by hunger with Food, Help and Hope. More information about how donate to the CFBNJ can assist members of the Community, or anyone needing assistance can visit their website at: http://cfbnj.org/
Trinity Lutheran Church is also sponsoring their annual Christmas sharing programs for Families in Bogota. They are fulfilling items, such as clothing, games, and some household goods that have been added to their " Christmas Wish List". They are accepting donations until Wednesday-16-December.
