Bogota Board of Education

 On Tuesday-22-September the Bogota Board of Education held their second meting for the month of September. In his opening report Superintendent Mr. Damian Kennedy talked about a number of items. One was to announced the in school learning for Special Needs Student started to resume this week. This is currently on a limited basis and only in an afternoon session. He said he is aiming to expand this to included all the Students who need the in-person training they require. Superintendent Kennedy reaffirmed  the goal of allowing some Student to return to in-school class starting on Monday-19-October. He added that there will be a Parent survey available on the District web-site to learn about how many Students will attend classed, and how many will choose to continue remote learning. 

  Next Superintendent Kennedy reminded the Board that there will be three virtual Back to School nights. They are planned to start on Tuesday-29- September with Bixby School, then Wednesday-30-September with Steen School and ending on 1-October with the High School. Each School’s Principal will have more information available closer to those dates.  A little later one of the trustees inquired about one of the policies to be voted on. This dealt with the revising the policy on religion in the Public Schools. They were told it is to update the language to meet Federal and State guild-lines.    When the trustees voted on the agenda all were passed by unanimous vote. One item was pulled for further discussion and voted on after the Executive Session. This involved a couple of HIB incidents.  Another item of note was the acceptance of the resignation of Jasmine Valentin-Albanese a High School Biology Teacher.  She will continue until a replacement is hired.
