On Saturday-22-August Parents of all three Bogota Public School held a uniform swap. This took place at the picnic pavilion in Olsen Park. The shirts were grouped by schools. Bixby, Steen, the Middle School and the Senior High School each had their own tables set-up to display what was available. There were also table which pants and shirts separated into groups for the younger Students and the Older one. One table was dedicated to showing a selection of outwear, gym shirts and other secondary apparel.
The items were gathers at a few of the Parent houses so they could be organized, inspected for condition, and give one more washing if needed. Donations started to be accepted the week prior to the swap, and total about 1,200 items of clothing. In the three hours of the event about 3/4 of the garments had found a new home. The remaining items will be donated to each of the school, to be used on an emergency basis. Other items will be kept in storage for future uniform swaps.
Students and Parent were given bags and move to each table assisted by PTO members to answer questions and help with sizing. The Bogota Recreation Centre stayed open in case Students need to try clothes on for the correct fit.
On the Shirt tables collection jars were available to donated to that school PTO.
