On Monday-3-August the Archdiocese of Newark announced the closing of St. Joseph Academy in Bogota. Father Scott Attansio gave the official address on St. Joseph Church facebook today. That can be seen at: https://www.facebook.com/stjosephbogota/videos
Father Attansio said that the school will be closed as of today. Citing the decrease in enrollment the Archdiocese notified Families in mid July about their decisions. It was announced on Monday that it would permanently close the school. St. Joseph Academy first started as a grammar school in 1925. Since that time it has grown to serve Students from Pre-Kindergarten to 8th Grade. The third and current location opened in 1972. St. Joseph was granted Academy status in 2010. At its peak approximate 300 Students from mostly Bogota and Teaneck and other surrounding communities.
Bogota Public School Superintendent Mr. Damian Kennedy has offer to work with any family living in Bogota so that their Student and easily transfer into the Public School System. Mr. Kennedy provide a link at:

At this time no official announcement has been made on the closing procedures, or future plans for the building.
