The Bogota Volunteer Fire will hold their annual Blood Drive in Cooperation with Trinity Lutheran Church on Monday-27-July. This event will take place at the Trinity Lutheran Church located at 167 Palisade Ave Bogota, NJ. The drive will start at 12:00n and go to 6:00p, and is being co-sponsored by the Community Blood Services. Along with the collection of red blood cells as well as blood platelets. The blood cells are use for transfusions for anyone who need to replenish their system due to an accident or surgery. Platelets are use to aid in blood clotting that are use for those going through cancer treatments , or organ transplants.
This year anyone wishing to donate must reserve a time in-order to maintain safe distances. Also Every donor must have a temperature of 99.5 degrees or under to be proceed with their donations. Mask for both donors and staff must be worn at all times. For safety all collection sets will be one time use for each donation. There will also be full and continuous sanitation of the area.

They will also test all donors for COVID-19 antibodies. Whether you're eligible to give whole blood or recovered from COVID-19 and can donate convalescent plasma.
Anyone may donate if the are between 17-75 years old, in good heath, and weigh at least 110 lbs. A donor is accepted even if they are prescribed medications that are frequently taken, inform the staff of all medication being taken, and it is recommended that a donor have a good meal , and plenty of fluids prior to donating.

Vitalant, supplying local hospitals in New Jersey and New York is asking everyone do their part, roll up their sleeves and donate blood. These hospitals have patients that continually require blood and/or blood products for the following: Open Heart Surgery, Trauma, Leukemia, Burn Victims, Automobile Accident victims and more!
All donors will receive free health screenings including:
Iron, Cholesterol, Blood Pressure, Temperature, Hemoglobin, Pulse Rate & Blood Type.
Free juice, cookies, crackers and/or pretzels will be provided to all blood donors
This is another way the Bogota Volunteer Fire Department serves the citizens of Bogota.
The Bogota Fire Department is an all volunteer organization serving the Borough since 1901. They also provide assistance in rescue , and other emergency situation. The Bogota Fire Department is now currently recruiting new members to become volunteers. This is open to anyone Female or Male who are at least 18 years of age , and are residents of Bogota as well as Ridgefield Park, Teaneck ,and Hackensack. Training, and equipment will be provided. There is also a Junior Firefighter program open to young Women, and Men who at at least 16 years of age.
