-HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON SUNDAY TO 8 PM EDT MONDAY
-WHAT...Heat index values up to around 100 expected.
- WHERE...Portions of northeast New Jersey, southern Connecticut
and southeast New York.
-WHEN...From 12:00 noon Sunday-19-July to 8:00p Monday-20-July.
- IMPACTS...High temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses to occur.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
A Heat Advisory is issued when the combination of heat and
humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 95 to 99 degrees
for two or more consecutive days, or 100 to 104 degrees for any
length of time.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young
children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent
rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone
overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
Heat stroke is an emergency Call 9 1 1.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has issued an Air Quality Action Day for the following counties, Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic, and Union. from 10:00a to 11:00p both Sunday-19-July and Monday-20-July. An Ozone Action Day has been declared! Ozone is forecast to reach the unhealthy for sensitive groups category for locations along and south of the I-95 corridor. Sensitive individuals including the very young, the elderly, and persons with respiratory diseases such as asthma, should avoid strenuous activities during the afternoon and early evening hours. An Air Quality Action Day means that Ground Level Ozone within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards.
