On Thursday-4-June the Bogota Borough Council held their first meeting for the month of June. All items on the consent agenda were passed. The next item of business was to approve the introduction of an ordinance to allow for new parking restriction on certain property. This is to develop a plan which will allow dedicated parking spaces from members of the Bogota Volunteer Fire Department near the W.Broad St. Firehouse. With the passing of this, the creation of new parking spaces will be included in the plan to re-pave W. Broad St. The design and budget will still have to be approved by the Council. Another ordinance approved was the adopting of a bond to proceed with Phase V of the re-paving and improvement to Leonia Ave.
Some items added to the agenda was to approve outdoor sitting for two Bogota restaurants. They are Nataly’s Kitchen 2 located at 296 Palisade Ave, and the 101 Pub located at 101 Queen Anne Rd. Nataly’s Kitchen 2 is seeking permission to add two outdoor dinning table in from of their establishment. It was determine there is amble sidewalk space available and the new table will be no hindrance to predestination traffic. The 101 Pub is seeking permission to their own parking lot located behind the building. This will not interfere with sidewalk traffic. The 101 Pub will still need to apply for a liquor license from the State of New Jersey before they can serve alcohol in this outdoor space. Both requested were approved.
In the Governing Body reports it was announced that the Bogota Office of Emergency Management have obtained wall mount hand sanitizing unit. This will be place at the entrance of all Public building in Bogota. Also announced was that covid -19 testing will continue at the Bergen Country Community College site until 30-June-2020. The New Bridge Medical Center public test has ended. The Borough is waiting still for a date when a Bergen County mobile test unit will be assigned to Bogota. The 2020 Census has been extended to 30-October -2020 This can be done by mail and online. There is hope the Bogota Library will be allowed to open soon and this can be used to conduct the online survey for anyone with out internet access. The next session of street paving approved last year, and early this year is scheduled to begin on Monday-8-June. Finally the Borough of Bogota received a grant to hire a new Police Officer.
The next Council meeting scheduled for Thursday-25-June and start at 7:30. ( the council meetings in July and August will be changed to start at 7:00p) This could be a virtual meeting with public access information to follow.
