On Saturday-23-May Bogota Councilwoman Daniel Fede took the time to perform a small clean-up of the planters on W. Main St. Councilwoman Fede is also a member of the Bogota Rescue Squad and was scheduled to take part in one of there Birthday Drive- by Birthday Celebrations. She took advantage of some extra time, before the birthday run, to do some maintenance on the planters. Originally installed by Bogota Beautiful, the planter were placed in front of some of the local merchants with the agreement that the business owner would take part on some basic care of the planters. Councilwoman Fede traveled up and down W. Main St. cutting back old branches and leaves. She also removed those plants that were no longer alive and growing. Unfortunately she also need to remove trash and other debris from the Planters that did not find its way to the proper trash reciprocals just a few feet away.
This was a something she had been thinking about over the past few days, when she kept seeing the dead vegetation on her way through the Borough. Knowing that is it was only going to be a brief cleanup , there was no need to ask for more volunteers to assist. Spending just a few minutes at each site, which was enough time to prepare the planter for the time when new flowers can be added.
