On Tuesday-19-May the Bogota Board of Education held their regular meeting for the Month of May. In his Superintendent reports Mr Damien Kennedy announced a number of changes in the school academic calendar. One date that has been added is Tuesday-2-June. This would have been a vacation day due to the 2020 New Jersey Primary election, but will now be a regular school day. The new date of Monday-15-June as the last day for Students, and Wednesday-17-June will be the final day for Staff. Superintendent Kennedy also said that the District is making plans to allow teachers and Staff to enter the Buildings to gather personal item. At that time they would also arrange the to box up personal items for the Student that would be able to be picked up by themselves, or Family members. Another item he talked about was hold virtual ceremonies to replace the awards dinner normally held in June. Superintendent Kennedy also said the Board of Education is waiting for guidelines from the State of New Jersey on how to hold High School and Elementary School graduations. He continued to say that virtual events are being planned, but is looking to other plans if they would be allowed.
All items of the agenda were passed by unanimous vote. Some of the more notable items approved were the appointment a number of non-tenured Teacher and Staff. Other items passed were to approve both Bogart and Trinity Schools to provided classroom space for the District Pre-School programs.
