On Tuesday-19-November the Bogota Board of Education held their second meeting for the month of November.
In Superintendent Damian Kennedy he yielded the floor to Eric Thomasevich of the accounting firm of Lerch, Vinci, & Higgins. Mr. Thomasevich gave the financial report for the fiscal year ending on 30- June-2019. Mr. Thomasevich told the Trustees that the Bogota School district was in excellent financial shape. One of this main points was that the School district surplus at the end of the 2019 fiscal year was 1. 5 million dollars. $800,000 of that is being used in the 2019-20 budget. While $700,000 will be used for tax relief in the 2020-21 budget. Mr. Thomasevich gave the Trustees only a few recommendations which pertained to record keeping, and contracts via any Cooperative Agreement over a certain ranged needs to have be approved by Board resolution.
All agenda items were passed, including those on the consent agenda from the previous board meeting. Items of note that were passed was to approve the resignation of Women's Basketball Coach Morgan Taylor effective immediately. This was followed by the appointment of Christina Minieri as acting Women's Basketball Head Coach. Another item approved was the submission for Preschool Education Aid for the 2020-21 school year in order to expand the Preschool program in Bogota Public Schools. The board also approved of the settlement of the case against the School Board by former Superintendent Dr. Letizia Pantoliano.
In a discussion of old business one trustee asked Superintendent Kennedy if there is a progress report on the SLEO Class 3 officers. Mr Kennedy said there has been no issues reported and they have been well received by Faculty and Staff. Mr Kennedy also said that he meets with the offices and the Bogota Police Dept on a regular basis and is looking to contract with a fourth SLEO Class 3 officer in case the needs arrive.

The Next Board of Education meeting will be on Tuesday-17-December. The meeting will be held in the High School Cafeteria located on the second floor of 2 Henry Luthin Pl. Bogota, NJ. The meeting is scheduled to start at 7:00p. The Public is invited to attend.
