On Friday-11-October the Bogota Lady Bucs Volleyball team played a unique double header. Due to a scheduling conflict Bogota would play two different matches. The first played the original match against Emerson. Then the # 4 Lady Bucs would face the #29 Lady Panthers from Glen Rock in the opening round of the Women's Bergen County Volleyball Tournament. The tournament match needed to be played on Friday due to the commitment of Bogota to take part it the Jersey Classic Tournament on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend.
Bogota would defeat the Emerson Lady Cavaliers 2-0 (25-7: 25-10) . The straight set win gave the Lady Bucs very little to to rest before the next contest.
Against Glen Rock the opening set stayed very close at the start. The neither team could gain more than a one point advantage from the first 16 balls serves. When the clubs tied at 8 points apiece Olivia Rosado would step in and serve an five point run for Bogota. Glen Rock would not allow themselves to fall behind too far with short runs of their own. The Lady Bucs only double digit lead would be the final point of the first set t have a 25-14 win.
The second set again started with the teams trading opening points having a 1-1 tie. Another quick service run from Bogota , this coming from Julianne Corniel, gave the Lady Bucs a 5-1- lead. The Lady Panthers would quickly come back and stay within to points several times. Amber Vazquez serving would again open the advantage for Bogota and they would have a 6 point lead. Bogota would win the 10 of the final 16 points to win the match in straight sets 2-0 ( 25-14 : and 25-14). Bogota's Kiara Polanco would have a match high with 12 Kills. The Lady Panthers would have Lanie Hoyt lead them with 6 Kill. Amber Vazquez record 24 Assist for Bogota and Emily Egermayer followed with 20 Assists for Glen Rock. Bogota's Ciara Feliz score 10 Digs with Glen Rock's Faith Mascari having 4.
Bogota's record is now 16-1 for the season. Their next Bergen County Volleyball Tournament match will be on Saturday-19-October at Old Tappan. They will play the winner of the #13 Leonia vs #20 Fair Lawn match wo be played on Saturday-12-October. The Lady Bucs will take part in the Jersey Classic Tournament on Saturday and Sunday 12-13 October at Ramapo College. The matches begin at 9:00a. Bogota's next league match is on Wednesday-16- October at Cresskill with the first serve at 4:00p The Lady Bucs Senior game will be on Friday-18-October when they host West Orange at Speary Gym with the first serve scheduled for 7:00p.
