Results of Bogota Varsity Sports from Thursday-10-October.
The Bogota Cross Country Bucs took park in the NJIC Patriot Division Championship meet at the Garret Mountain Reservation course. In the Women's Varsity Race the Lady Bucs would fall two points under winner Weehawken Lady Indians. Bogota's Amandin Fernandez would place second in scoring (4th overall), Maryann Gesmundo had a third place finish. Natalie Hardwick in 7th, Ashley Bautista 10th and Denisse Sotomayor 13th rounded out the top five finishers.
In the Men's race Bogota would successfully defined their 2018 championship. The Bucs would place 5 runners in the top 9 finishes. Jesus Michel would lead Bogota by coming 2nd overall. Sasha Mehta finished placed 4th Andrew Cazar 7th, Dennis Toremis 8th, Leandro Rojas 9th, and Dylan LeMay just missed out on scoring spot by 2 seconds at 1oth. This would be the 7th Patriot title in 8 years for the Men's Squad.
Bogota's top finisher for the Junior Varsity races would be Morales Yelitza in 12th for the Women and Angel Perez in 11th for the Men.
The Cross Country teams next compete in the Bergen County Championship meet on Saturday-26-October at the Darlington Park Race Course.
The Bogota Lady Bucs Volleyball team traveled to Verona to play the Lady Hillbillies. Bogota would win the match 2-0 (25-13: 25-16) Bogota's Nylene Mateo would lead all players with 16 Kills , and Kiara Polanco added another 12 Kills. Angelique Caceres would have 10 Service Points. Ms. Caceres would have 2 Blocks along with Gyanna Hernandez. Julianne Corniel would recorded 8 Digs. Amber Vazquez had a Match high with 28 Assists.
Bogota's record is now 14-1. Bogota will next play on Friday-11-October against Emerson at home in Speary Gym. The first serve is scheduled for 4:00p. Then following this match the #4 ranked Lady Bucs host the #29 ranked Glen Rock Lady Panthers in the opening round of the Bergen County Volleyball Tournament. This is scheduled to start at 5:30p.
The Bogota Soccer Bucs hosted the Palisades Park Tigers at Zakrzewski Field in Olsen Park. The Tigers would score 4 first half Goals, and the teams would trade 2 Goals a piece in the second half for a 6-2 Palisades Park win. Bogota's record is now 0-12. They next play on Tuesday-15-October against Emerson. This will be played at Zakrzewski Field in Olsen Park with a 4:00p Kick-off.
