Bogota Beautiful

23-August-2019
On Wednesday-21-August Bogota Beautiful held their monthly Public Meeting.  The main focus of this meeting was to discuss the Creative Arts Team plan which Chairperson Amaru Bustamante presented to the Bogota Borough Council at the latest Council Meeting.  A Creative Arts Team would be a separate committee that could Identify and engage  with different leaders in the community to become stakeholders in the town’s development. It would incorporate arts and culture into the town’s strategic planning. Along with the
promotion of  social activity and interaction to involve resident of the Borough to share in the decision making and problem solving to enhance current and future development in Bogota.
Mr. Bustamante again addressed the council to ask them to consider a resolution to support the creation of a Creative Arts Team.  The resolution passed by the Council recommended a 10 person committee should be formed. 2 members will be elected officials from the Governing Body,  and at least 1 current member of Bogota Beautiful.   Other members will come from local artist, business personnel, someone involved  in Borough School districts as well as resident living in Bogota. The members to this committee will be appointed by Mayor Chris Kelemen at a later date. The Creative Arts Team will serve as an advisory board to the Governing Body. The Bogota Council will have to approve any finding the Creative Arts Team wishes to put in place, as well all funding for this must be approved by Council when needed.
Bogota Beautiful will not be replaced by Creative Arts Team, but will be allowed to make recommendation to it.  Creative Arts Team will hold public meeting  and at those meeting any member of the public can also make recommendation to the Creative Arts Team.  When the Creative Arts Team is formally seated it will then need to create their own mission statement that will define their goals and  vision between the municipal government, local businesses, and residents for the development of arts & culture programs that positively promote Bogota.
Another item that was discussed  was brought up Daniele Fede. This was setting a date to finish the staining of the Olsen Park  Environmental Walkway.  This was started on the 2019 Earth Day event when members of the Environmental Commission cleaning and repairing the walkway. The Environmental Commission  is planning the next phase on Saturday-9- September  starting at  11:00a until 1:00p. They are looking for volunteers to help staining, and any other work needed on the river front walkway. High School students will earn Community service credits for their time working.  To sign-up to volunteer for this project please contact Daniele Fede at:  dfede@bogotaonline.org
