On Monday-29-July The Bogota Public Library held a workshop for Students to make their own squishy toy. Library Associate Jennifer Aprias explained how to use high density, some paint and imagination to create a hand made toy. To match the Library's Summer reading program, A Universe of Stories, samples of Stars, Space Ships and Aliens were available to be copied. But the Student were told if they wanted to make-up something different they should feel free to do that as well. Most of the creators were Middle School Students, or younger. The younger children were aided by their Parents, with library Staff offering assist when needed. Some of the older Students would break off into their own groups talking and helping each other with their project. Some Parent let their children try doing the art work own their own offering encourage if needed. The Parents also took the time to look at the toys being made, when the Artist felt they were ready to show off their creation.
When a toy was completed, the Student could set it aside to dry and return later to take then home. Others would stay at the tables talking with others, or just have time playing with other pieces of foam to see what they could make.
