On Saturday-22-June the Bogota Public Library kicked -off its Summer Program"A Universe of Stories". This began with their first Might Read when Local Public figures read spaced them stories to the Students in attendance. Then the was a musical show by Turtle Dance Music that used songs and dancing to teach about space. Miss Rachel and Mr. David had the children learn the words to songs at told fact on a number of subject. Some songs included the name and size of the different planets in the Solar System. Dance moves moves mimic basic principles of physics. There were also rhymes using the names of well known scientists and Astronauts. On of the last exercises the Student took part in was to lay quietly on the floor looking up to the ceiling. Then the participants needed imagine it was a moon-lite night and they were looking off into space. Miss Rachel and Mr. David blowing bubbles to simulate the many stars that could be seen. They wanted the student to dream of what it will be like to travel in space, and what they need to learn to make that a possibility. Finally there was a small quiz about what they had just learn. Their answers were sampled and turned into on more song.
The Bogota Public Library Summer Program"A Universe of Stories" is now running until Saturday -7-September. This is open to the public. They have three categories of readers: Kids, up to age 11. Teens from ages 12-7, and Adult for everyone over 18 years of age. There will be weekly prizes available for anyone who registers and chronicle the books they have read throughout the Summer.
