On Sunday -2-June the Friendship House of Northern New Jersey held their annual Wellness Walk for Mental Health and Autism. This took place in Olsen Park in Bogota and capped off Mental health Awareness Month. Walker’s cover as many laps of the Olsen Park Environmental Walkway as they wanted. The proceeds raised from this event will go to assist person with disabilities to live and improve the quality of life. Games were played to win prizes, along a raffle item available. After the doing their laps walkers were treated to lunch and dessert and could relax in Olsen park for the just of the early afternoon. Some of the food choices available were pulled pork sandwiches from the Friendship House food truck.
Students from Parisian Beauty Academy gave hand messages as well as doing face painting , and even adding hair extensions to a few. Other sponsors on hand were Medieval Times, Bergen County Health, and the Bergen County Office of Environmental Health.
The afternoon started with Friendship House Kathy English introducing Bogota Mayor Chris Kelemen and Hackensack Deputy Mayor David Sims. Mayor Kelemen welcomed Friendship House and all the walkers to enjoy Olsen Park in Bogota. Deputy Mayor David Sims Thanked Mayor Kelemen and the citizen of Bogota for the use of the park for this cause. Then Bergen County Freeholder Tracy Zur expressed the County’s support of Friendship House and the work they do to help the residents of Bergen County in need. Finally Annelise Malgieri, Miss Bergen County 2019, welcome and thanked all of those who showed up to walk for Friendship House.
