Weekend Events

Some events scheduled to take place in and around Bogota, for the weekend starting on Thursday-30-May. Times and dates may change due weather or other circumstances. Please contact the event for the most up to date information.  More events will be added when they become available.

Continuing 
  Starting on Sunday-1 July-2018 the Borough of Bogota will change the ordnance in what can be recycled. Bottle & cans recycling pick-up the Borough of Bogota will now be limited to: Aluminium, Glass, Bi-metal/Tin cans. Aluminium foils and pie plates will be accepted but must be clean. Plastic Containers with the symbol  1, 2, or 5  only  will also be accepted.   All recyclable material must be placed in  reusable trash receptacles.  Items places in plastic bag will not be collected. Paper and cardboard recycling remains unchanged.
   The  collectible the products that have been removed from the accepted list will now be accepted by The Borough of Bogota in cooperation with the Ridgefield Park  environmental commission and collected in a separate way. The Trex Corporation has provided bins to accept the following item. Grocery bags, bread bags, case overwrapping, dry cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, wood pellet bags, zip lock & other re-seal able bags, produce bags, bubble wrap, salt bags, and cereal bags. All  recyclable materials must be clean, dry and free of food residue. For every 500 pounds of plastic collected the Trex Corporation will donate a new park bench, made from recycled materials. The benches will be donated to both Bogota and Ridgfield Park on a rotating basis. As of now a Trex collection bin is in the lobby of the Bogota Borough Hall and  the Bogota Public Library can be accessed  during  regular business hours. More bins are planned for other locations in the future.
  The collection day under the new rules will be Thursday-5-July (due to the Fourth of July Holiday) Then every other Wednesday.

The Bogota  Public Library will have  story time reading  starting at 10:30a. This is open available to any Student wishing to join in.  This will be held  under the tree in the Nikki Spiegel Story Time Corner. La biblioteca pública de Bogota acogerá un taller sobre la primera vez que los compradores de casas pueden hacer esfuerzos por una casa propia. Esto será presentado por Jon Ortiz de Cross County hipotecas. Este programa se presentará en español. El Sr. Ortiz va a hablar sobre las opciones de pago anticipado y 
ofrecer consejos sobre cómo asegurar un préstamo.

  The Bogota Recreation Commission and the Borough of Bogota will present Bogota Day 2019. This will be held in Olsen Park, Bogota , NJ starting at 4:30p. This is a celebration of Bogota 125th Anniversary. Some of the activities planned are Rides and a Petting Zoo, Live Music, and a Historic Bus  Tour of Bogota. Snacks including  Hot dogs, Popcorn, Cotton Candy , and Ice Cream will be compliments of the Recreation Commission. To end the evening their will be a first of its kind Bogota Fireworks display.  The Fireworks are scheduled to start at 9:00p weather permitting.
 It is asked that anyone attend come dress in Purple and Gold to show pride for Bogota, NJ
Admission is free.

   The Bogota  Public Library  host their Toddler play group. This is an opportunity for   young children and their Parents to play and relax in a safe area.   The  North Jersey Friendship House  will be hosting their Annual Wellness Walk for Mental Health &  Autism.  This will take place in Olsen Park Bogota, NJ. This is chance to raise money and awareness of mental health issues while enjoying an early afternoon outdoors. There will be a walk-a-thon around Olsen Park with donations going to help  Friendship  House with their work.  Music, A cook-out, Raffles and a Zumba class are planned for the event. There is a $5.00 donation requested

 The Bogota Public  Library will have their Youth's Sewing Club meeting.  This is  open to  Students ages 9-18.  This will teach anyone the art of sewing. There will be a chance to learn machine, and hand sewing as well as shown different project and types of material.   The Bogota Public  Library will host "The Dancing Librarians".  This is  will be presented by  Maria Russo and Esperanza Pacheco  who will lead a Zumba exercise class for Student 8-18 years old.      The weekly " Meet the Mayor"  event will take place in the office of Mayor Chris Kelemen This is open to any Bogota resident who would to ask the Mayor a question about  Bogota, or to discuss any matter to help improve the quality of life in the Borough. Anyone who wishes just to have an informal conversation with the Mayor is also welcome to attend. Meetings will be held on a first come basis. This will run from 5:00p to 7:00p in the Mayor's office. His office is on in Bogota Borough Hall located at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ.

Tuesday-4-June
Bogota
  Primary Elections for 2019 in the State of  New Jersey will take place on Tuesday-4-June. The polls will be opening at 6:00a and remaining open until 8:00p.
The Public schools of the Bogota Board of Education will be closed for voting.

Polls are located at the at :
-- For Districts 1 & 6 it is the Bogota Recreation Center at 162 W. Main St.
   Districts 1 & 6 is that part of the Borough located West of the Railroad tracks.

-- For Districts 2&3 it is the Gym of  Bogota High School at 1 Henry Luthin Pl.  please use the door towards the back of the building on the North side of the Building.
  Districts 2 & 3  is that part of the Borough located East of the Railroad tracks & North of Beechwood Ave

--  For Districts 4 & 5 it is  in the Gym of the Roy Bixby School at Maplewood & Fischer Aves.
     Districts 4 & 5  is that part of the Borough located East of the Railroad tracks & South of Beechwood Ave.

The Bogota Public Schools will have a half day on Tuesday-6-June with a lunchtime dismissal  in order for the school to used as a polling location.
